George Spofford serves as the General Counsel for the Underground Utility Contractors of Florida. George is Board Certified by The Florida Bar as a Construction Law Specialist and has practiced solely in the construction industry for over 20 years. In addition to working with the UUCF, he routinely represents clients in matters such as claims preparation, bid protests, OSHA matters, contract negotiation and drafting, claims avoidance, litigation of delay, extra work claims, and breach of contract actions. George was previously an owner, officer, and counsel to one of the largest heavy civil construction companies in Florida, and is a member of the Florida Transportation Builders Association, NUCA Construction Attorney's Forum, MERITAS Construction Law Group, West Coast Roofing Contractors' Association, and Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association. George is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and is AV Peer Review Rated in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. He is listed in Chambers USA, Florida Super Lawyers, and Florida Trend's Legal Elite. George has argued before the Florida Supreme Court and is also a Certified Mediator and a Certified FDOT Dispute Review Board Member.
